Land Speed Record #2

World's Fastest Stock Car

Tuesday, October 9, 2007, the American Challenge team set a new stock car world speed record of 244.9 MPH which was confirmed by Guinness World Records.  Driver Russ Wicks hit a top speed of 247 MPH in a NASCAR-spec stock car on the Bonneville Salt Flats in northwestern Utah.

State-of-the-art technology was used throughout the testing and development phases to enhance the speed and stability of the vehicle.

Four days before the record was set, the NASCAR underwent aerodynamic testing at the Chrysler Wind Tunnel in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Ryan Isabell, Lead Chassis Simulation Engineer for Dodge Motorsports, collaborated with American Challenge's Roger Gallington and NASCAR aero guru Aaron Brown to minimize the aerodynamic drag by optimizing the chassis setup.
